Family Camp

Family Camps for families with children is a camping program at our base camp using a co-op model. Adult family members help run the program while Growing Up Wild staff plans and provides activities for children and adults. Typical tasks that adult family members help with include meal preparation, activity supervision, and general clean up.

Wilderness Adventures

The Wilderness Adventures Program consists of our backpacking and camping trips for youth groups. Camping experiences take place at our base camp and campground sites throughout Central/Northern California. Backpacking trips begin at our base camp where we prepare for the trip then drive and get dropped off at trailheads throughout Central/Northern California.

Boyz in the Woodz

The rite of passage program for teen boys involves three separate weekends spaced a few weeks apart. Each weekend signifies one of three stages: 1) preparing for the journey; 2) taking the journey; and 3) reflecting on the journey. During the first weekend, campers stay at base camp where the focus is on personal development and community building. The second weekend consists of a backpacking trip – considered “the journey” – in a remote wilderness area. The third weekend is held at base camp where campers participate in a sweat lodge ceremony and self-reflection activities. Growing Up Wild is in the process of developing advanced levels of this program.
